In January 2024, we will celebrate the 100th anniversary of The Hilltop, the nation’s oldest Black collegiate newspaper. Our theme for the centennial year: Honoring Our Past. Celebrating Our Future. This is not just a milestone for Howard University, but also a tribute to the steadfast dedication of the countless individuals who have contributed to the evolution and success of The Hilltop during the past century, including multiple Pulitzer Prize and Emmy award-winning journalists. To honor such a momentous occasion, The Hilltop will host a celebratory gala on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at 6 p.m. in Washington, D.C. at the National Press Club with keynote speaker Isabel Wilkerson. The evening will bring together Hilltop alumni, current staffers, faculty and esteemed members of the journalism community to celebrate the past, present and future of The Hilltop.
