Howard University’s 93rd Annual Homecoming
titled ‘Blueprint’ presented by PepsiCo
International Yardfest Returns with Live Entertainment
WASHINGTON (October 18, 2016) – Howard University will celebrate its 93rd annual homecoming week October 18-23 with activities and entertainment for students, alumni and friends of the university. This year’s “Blueprint” homecoming celebration, presented by PepsiCo, will feature signature events, such as the Fashion Show, Greek Step Show and the return of International Yardfest.
The week’s events will kick off at 7:30 p.m. tonight with a Pep Rally at William H. Greene Stadium, 2400 6th Street NW, Washington, D.C., featuring a special guest performance artist.
At 10 a.m. Friday, Howard University President Dr. Wayne A. I. Frederick will present the Presidential State of the University Address at the School of Business Auditorium.
Homecoming at Howard University is a unique experience. It not only provides an opportunity for Howard University students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends to engage with one another but it also reminds us why the Howard University experience is essential to the genetic make-up of the Diaspora and the world.” said Frederick.
Beginning at noon Friday, Howard University students, alumni, and friends will gather for the International Yardfest on the campus’ main yard to enjoy live entertainment, vendors, food, games, a children’s pavilion and more. Yardfest is a Howard University tradition that features a diverse range of artists and entertainment that reflects the Diaspora. Yardfest is a free event that is open to the public, and extra precautions have been added to ensure the safety of attendees.
At 1 p.m. Saturday, the Howard University Bison will take on the North Carolina A&T Aggies at the William H. Greene Stadium. The event sells out annually and will feature a special half-time performance by the Showtime Marching Band.
