Sean “P. Diddy” Combs Gifts His Alma Mater

Howard University has been raved as “The Mecca” for decades. It is home of The Long Walk and home to the legacies of greats that have come and gone. One of those greats is fellow hip-hop mogul, businessman and Howard Bison Sean “P. Diddy” Combs.

Combs gives credit to credit to Howard for helping him get his start as a musician and entrepreneur. On Thursday, Combs called Howard President Wayne A. I. Frederick to the stage during his D.C. stop on the “Bad Boy Reunion Tour.”

“One of the biggest blessings is getting the chance to one day be able to give back and to support the people that supported you,” Combs said. “If I didn’t get some help, I wouldn’t be where I am at today.”

Combs proceeded to present Frederick with a check in the university’s name.

“I would like to gift you to start my new scholarship fund, the Sean Combs Scholarship Fund,” said Combs. “I would like to give my school, my alma mater, [a] million dollars to anybody that can’t pay their financial aid.”

With current students and Bison alumni present, the crowed roared and gave a standing ovation after the presentation.

The scholarship will be effective in the 2017 fall semester to undergraduate students seeking a degree in business who are in financial need and maintain a 3.0 GPA. Recipients will also have the opportunity to intern at Bad Boy Entertainment or Revolt Media & TV during the summer.

Throughout the early portion of the night, Combs referred to Howard University as his home, labeling it an “indescribable place” and calling himself “a Bison for life.”

Being that all attendees couldn’t relate to the Bison pride and benefit from the presentation, Combs didn’t stop the surprises for the night end at the check.

Diddy gifted concertgoers with the presence of his and Bad Boy’s “extended family.” Artists such as DMX, The L.O.X., (Jadakiss, Sheek Louch and Style. P), performed alongside French Montana, Mase, Lil Kim, Faith Evans, 112, Total, and Diddy’s son “King [Christian] Combs.”

It was a night to remember and a night that will change the life of future Bison.
