The freshman class packed Louis C. Cramton Auditorium for the Mister and Miss Freshman Pageant where contestants showcased their platforms to uplift their peers while classmates cheered them on.

The theme of the night was “Race to the Crown.” Students filled Cramton on Sept. 23 to support their peers, waving signs and showing spirited support for their classmates.

Rosh Morrow, a biology major, chemistry and Spanish minor from Chicago, Illinois, was crowned the 2025-2026 Mister Freshman. Ryann May, a political science major from Atlanta, Georgia, was crowned the 2025-2026 Miss Freshman.

May ran because she cares deeply about the freshman class and wanted them to have a strong start, she said.

“I felt this role would give me the chance to make a difference and create a supportive environment where everyone feels seen,” May said.

May’s platform, “Mirror Mirror,” centers on three pillars: self-expression, confidence and service. She said her goal is to help peers grow and embrace their identities.

One of May’s biggest goals is to help the class of 2029 “grow into a united group where everyone feels comfortable being themselves.” She wants her peers to feel more connected, confident and involved.

Daniel Brown, a freshman health science major, had a Wiz-inspired platform. His three pillars were mental health, love and community and fearless activism. Brown chose this platform because “the road ahead of us will not always be easy, but by taking it step by step, we can all walk it together.”

Brown said his passion for community drove him to run.

“At home, I was big on community. Coming to Howard, I wanted to make sure that the freshman class knew that we would be able to create it here as well,” Brown said.

He added that building community can help ease homesickness.

With his platform, Brown aimed to foster a strong community among current students and alumni. His other initiative would’ve been a Munchkin Madness Field Day, is a day where students can de-stress and have fun.

“Home is not just a place where you can sleep but rather a place of knowing,” Brown said, emphasizing how he wants to help his classmates make Howard their home.

Kira Fraser, a freshman television and film major, created her platform “True Bison.” She aims to “turn resilience into unstoppable excellence” with her pillars: mind, body and community.

The biggest focus of her platform is physical and mental health.

“For physical health, some of the things I’d like to do are to make the dorm gyms 24 hours, get some better equipment, partner with local gyms to get discount membership, and do a bison 5k charity run,” Fraser said.

Fraser planned to bring service animals to the yard to relieve stress during midterm and final exam season and have monthly student surveys. To achieve these goals, she planned to collaborate with various organizations on Howard’s campus.

To the freshman class, Fraser emphasized how they must have resilience.

“We are a strong class and we’ve gone through large events like COVID or coming to college, so we as a class are very resilient,” Fraser said.

The 2025-2026 Mister and Miss freshman pageant closed with students sharing their goals for service, community and connection within the freshman class.
