Outside of Howard’s College Hall North residence, two victims were robbed at gunpoint, and one was pistol-whipped on Thursday night, according to a police report.

The robbery occurred at roughly 10:24 p.m. on Jan. 16, Howard’s Department of Public Safety (DPS) said. Both victims, walking along 2229 Fourth St. NW, were approached by multiple suspects in ski masks, according to the police report.

The suspects flashed weapons and robbed the victims of their belongings, which included an iPhone 15, a keychain, a black Moose Knuckles jacket and a Tommy Hilfiger jacket. The D.C. Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) estimates the total value of the stolen items to be $2,400.

DPS said there were nine suspects in Thursday’s robbery, one of whom was armed with an AR-15. However, MPD could not confirm the number of suspects or the models of weapons used as the investigation is open and ongoing as of 4 p.m. Friday.

The armed robbery marked the first of three incidents that occurred near campus within a 24-hour timespan beginning Thursday night, two of which were Howard-related.

DPS alerted the community of an armed robbery near the intersection of Georgia Avenue and Howard Place NW, which is near the Banneker Recreation Center, at 4:26 p.m. Friday, and a shooting at 5:12 p.m. on Second and W Street NW. The victim was transported to the hospital.

As of noon Saturday, MPD reported no arrests have been made in connection with Thursday’s robbery.

In their crime alerts, DPS described all three incidents as Howard-related. In a follow-up email on Saturday night, DPS clarified that the third incident involving a shooting was not Howard-related. The email also said stray bullets shattered a glass window at Howard’s College Hall South residence, leaving a student with non-life threatening injuries.
