“I think it’s great that she’s using Howard as her election space, honoring her alma mater. Coming here to have this really historic event happen on our campus is a really big deal,” she said. “I think it is a slight inconvenience to the students right now, especially those living on campus. It’s making some stuff difficult, but trying not to think that way since it’s such a big moment.”

“I love that she’s using Howard as an election space because I feel like it’s really showcasing that we’re a capstone for Black excellence.”

“I think it’s also super empowering and draws a lot of attention to HBCUs in general and the things that we can do.”

“I think that it puts a good image on the school and brings a lot more attention to it. Although, it is kind of an inconvenience to have to walk all the way around to go to the cafeteria, and for the cafeterias to be closed.”

“I think it’s great that Kamala’s here. I think that it’s exciting, it’s historic, but I do think sometimes it’s kind of a lot of attention on the university that we already get being in D.C. and then even more, so it does make it a little bit nerve-racking.”

“I think it’s great. It’s a great opportunity for young journalists to get out there. I’m happy to be a part of this history. I think it’s a good thing.

“I’m so so happy that Kamala’s here on campus. But it also attracts a little bit of animosity, because I am a little scared, there is a lot of tension in this election. But I think it’s extremely historical to be living here on campus as a Howard student when a Howard alumni is being elected into office which is so great.”

“It’s a very exciting time for a lot of people on campus. I guess one thing that I know a lot of students have been complaining about is like how shut off we feel from the campus, so it feels like it’s not really an experience we can participate in.”

“I’m really excited about Kamala Harris coming, it’s going to be amazing. It’s going to be a real good official chapter in Howard’s history.”

“I feel like we are living in history right now. It’s really cool, just praying for safety and this election for really being rooted not in opinion but in facts. I hope that Kamala can make that a truth.”
