LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Letter from the 62nd HUSA Executive President

HUSA Executive President Jordyn Allen.

Hey Baby Bison!

On behalf of the 62nd Administration of the Howard University Student Association, I am beyond excited to welcome you to The Mecca!

Choosing to attend Howard University will be one of the best decisions you ever make, and I am elated to serve as your 62nd Howard University Student Association President for your first year at Howard. Our administration has an exciting and fun filled year planned to help you fall in love with your new home away from home. Never be afraid to step out of your comfort zone, be open to new ideas and perspectives and most importantly have fun!

As you begin to navigate your freshman year, I want to leave you with one thing to remember during your journey at the Mecca: Comparison is the thief of joy. You are about to enter a space with the brightest, most intelligent Black leaders who will all change the world in their own unique way. For a lot of students, this is an intimidating realization because we all come from places where we were the star Black student in the classroom. Most of us have never been in an environment with so many people who look like us and have the same potential as we do. Yet, it is a beautiful environment to learn from. Don’t view your peers as competitors, but as people to pour into and learn from and they will do the same for you. =

Once again, welcome to The Mecca! And as always #BleedBlue
