Before the highly, anticipated 2016 AT&T Nation’s Football Classic “Battle for the Real HU” football game on Saturday, Sept. 17, at RFK Stadium, there will be an opportunity for both Howard and Hampton students who are interested in a career in broadcasting and sports.

Events DC will be hosting a “Diversity In Sports Forum: Pathways Into The Industry” at The Mayflower Hotel in Washington, D.C., Friday, Sept. 16. The sports forum is a new event this year that is supporting the Nation’s Classic.

The forum will feature noted ESPN sports journalist Howard Bryant as moderator, two panel discussions and a career fair that connects job seekers with sports industry employers seeking diversity in their talent ranks. The sports forum will be starting at around 8 a.m. Friday morning.

According to Events DC’s 202 Creates, the forum was created to assist HBCU students and alumni who are interested in careers within the sports industry with helpful insights, advice and access to leading sports executives, companies and organizations. The panel discussions will bring together industry professionals to explore the importance of diversity and inclusion in the sports industry, provide strategies and tactics for pursuing sports jobs and share success stories. The career fair will offer networking opportunities for those looking to break into the industry, as well as opportunities for various sports-related business to recruit and connect with current and future job-seekers.
