Despite initial resistance from D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser, the Give SNAP a Raise Act received unanimous council approval and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) payments will begin on Feb. 23, providing families and individuals in the nation’s capital food assistance.
