Meet Jazmin Goodwin, The Hilltop’s 2017-2018 Editor-in-Chief

Jazmin Goodwin is a senior studying journalism and graphic design at Howard University. Born in Germany and raised in Columbia, South Carolina, she recently participated in Howard University’s Domestic Exchange Program at Columbia University in the City of New York. Currently, she is a video intern for SheKnows Media, a women’s lifestyle digital media company. This summer, she will be participating in Knight CUNYJ’s internship program as a 2017 summer fellow.

Boasting a 3.9 GPA, she has gained extensive experience in writing and digital content by contributing to various media outlets, including USA TODAY College, CRWN Mag, SheKnows Media and DC. In 2015-2016, she served as the senior campus editor of The Hilltop. As a result of her managerial skills, innovative ideas and sharp copyediting, Jazmin was honored as a White House Correspondent Association Scholar.

A member of the fifth cohort of the Freshman Leadership Academy (FLA), she also served as an on-air personality for WHBC. She recently spoke before Congress, advocating for support and funding of education programs for low-economic background students. Through her experiences, she was influenced to start her own business COZY GIRLZ, a platform launched to fight for equality, representation and support of women to thrive in male-dominated industries.

Executive Managing Editor 

Meet Will Fuller, The Hilltop’s 2017-2018 Executive Managing Editor

A Bill Gates Millennium Scholar, Will Fuller is a senior majoring in public relations and minoring in English at Howard University. Boasting a 3.7 GPA, Will is a member of the Psi Tau chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi Business Fraternity, the oldest and largest professional business fraternity. A native of Birmingham, Alabama, he recently served as the fraternity’s professional development officer and was recognized as the 2017 Most Professional Brother.

In 2015 and 2016, he served as the senior news editor of The Hilltop after serving as a news staff writer for only three months and news editor for five months. As a result of his superior copy editing and news judgement, he was selected as a 2016 IRE Knight Fellow by the Investigative Reporters and Editors (IRE and NICAR).

Currently, he is a college intern – corporate and digital communications at Northrop Grumman Corporation, a top-five government defense and aerospace corporation with 65,000 employees in all 50 states. He previously interned for two consecutive summers as a marketing and public relations intern for the Georgia Lottery Corporation. He also interned in communications and marketing at MSLGROUP, Council for Advancement and Support of Education, X+PR and the Human Rights Campaign and served as the editor/web communications manager of The Earle Law Firm, LLC.

Upon completion of his undergraduate studies, he plans to continue his passion for writing as a corporate communications, talent acquisition or university recruiting professional.

Business Manager 

Meet Pierce Jordan, The Hilltop’s 2017-2018 Business Manager

Pierce Jordan is a junior majoring in organizational communications and minoring in business administration. Alongside The Hilltop’s Executive Managing Editor Will, Pierce is a member of Alpha Kappa Psi Professional Business Fraternity, Psi Tau chapter. As a global philanthropist, Pierce has traveled and experienced different places to foster civic engagement. Jordan learned the importance of high school reform and developed ways to decrease drop-out rates and low-achievement performance for K-12 students as a 330 Ambassador for the LeBron James Foundation. As an ambassador for the program, he interacted with the community, mentored less-fortunate youth and conducted philanthropic activities in Akron, Ohio and New York City during the NBA All-Star Game.

He also focused on prevention programs to avert under achievement and implement consistent study habits within public school districts. In Beijing, he was able to understand the plight of the less fortunate, including children without parents.

Most recently, in January, Jordan was selected as co-coordinator of the Howard University Alternative Spring Break program. Alternative Spring Break (ASB) is a week-long service learning experience for undergraduate students at Howard University. Pierce is also a member of the sixth cohort of the Freshman Leadership Academy (FLA), Howard University Elite Models, Young Africana Leadership Initiative (YAALI) and MLT Ascend.

Upon completion of his undergraduate studies, Pierce plans to pursue a career in corporate responsibility as an operations analyst.
