DVSN makes a stop in Silver Spring for “Morning After” Tour

After roughly 45 minutes of two DJ sets with a mix of today’s hip-hop hits and 90s R&B, Daniel Daley, lead singer of DVSN, walked out onto the stage flanked by three background singers to screaming and expectant fans.

”Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah..” the beginning of DVSN’s debut single “With Me” begins to boom through the speakers as concertgoers screamed the words of the song back to Daley as he sang.

Daley and his R&B group were in Silver Spring, Maryland as they continued their Morning After World Tour last week. The Canadian duo is signed under Drake’s OVO label and consists of Daley, a singer, and Nineteen85, a producer and songwriter.

After warming fans up with some of their most popular songs, DVSN incorporated R&B songs by other artists in their performance, including Childish Gambino’s “Redbone” and Miguel’s “Adorn.” Fans shouted the lyrics as Daley smiled and nodded his head in agreement.

“I was very impressed by their extensive set list and how they combined an all-inclusive curation of tracks from their new project along with some familiar classics,” Joshua Hubbard, a DVSN fan said.

At one point, Daley stepped back and allowed one of his back up singers, Shantel May, to sing Beyoncé’s “1+1”, followed by her own debut single “Back n Forth.” Her sultry but strong voice crooned through the air and offered a more feminine tone compared to Daley’s commanding sound.

In the downtown venue, Daley appeared in front of a screen that displayed video content that also had lyrics. Smoke billowed around him, making him appear ethereal. Nineteen85 seamlessly transitioned between songs off-stage at the sound booth located in the rear of the venue.

The audience included Rayo Oni and Selam Yilm, college students from California, participating in a program that allows them to intern in the District of Columbia.

“No words. I have absolutely no words. He was amazing,” Yilm said.

“I was lit the entire time. I’m so happy I did this,” Oni said.

This tour is only the second solo tour for the duo, after participating as supporting acts for Drake’s Summer Sixteen and Boy Meets World tours.
